]]>The post Apple event, updated iPhone 13 series at the same price, new refreshed iPad mini, Apple watch series 7 and more appeared first on So Called Happenings.
]]>Let’s see what changes they brought in new iPhones.
Just like last year, iPhone 13 and 13 mini was launched with the same screen size and at the same price. However, there are quite a few changes. These include:
Disappointingly no high refresh rate. iPhone 13 starts at ₹79,900 and mini from ₹69,900 same prices as last year.
The Pro-line of the devices got few extra upgrades in terms of display and camera. The upgrades include:
iPhone 13 Pro starts at ₹1,19,990 whereas Max model starts at ₹1,29,900 and up to ₹1,79,990 for 1TB variant.
All iPhones come with the new iOS 15 out of the box. As last year there is no adaptor in the box. Pre-order starting at 5:30 PM IST on 17 September. Shipping/ Sales starts from 24 September.
iPad mini has seen the biggest upgrade overall. With its squared-off edges, it matches with the pro tablets in terms of looks. The display on the front too changed with the new all-screen design. Internally it runs on the same A15 Bionic chip that’s inside new iPhones.
The upgrades include:
The iPad mini is priced at ₹46,900 for Wi-Fi only model and ₹60,900 for Wi-Fi + Cellular one. Comes with a 20W adapter in the box.
Alongside Apple also announced the iPad (10.1″). With minor upgrades at the same price. These include:
Apart from this no major upgrades. iPad is the entry tab offering from Apple and is the best one to get at that price. Starts at ₹ 30,900 for Wi-Fi only model.
The square off design that leaked ahead of the Apple event stayed as rumour as the new series 7 is as round as ever. Tried and tested comfortable design. The huge upgrade for the watch this year would be the display going all the way to the edges. Making it almost bezel-less.
Upgrades include:
Apple watch series 7 will be coming to India later this year. Availability and pricing are yet to be announced.

]]>The post iPhone 13 big leaks ahead of launch, Check out! appeared first on So Called Happenings.
]]>The live event will be streaming from Apple Park on September 14th. Same as last year there will be 4 models in this year’s line up too. Two regular-sized iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, small iPhone 13 Mini, and a plus-size iPhone 13 Pro max. Complementing with iOS 15 in all its glory and iPhone 13 specific functions. Alongside the Apple watch next version Watch 7 too will be introduced. Some rumours say that refreshed Air pods 3 will be launching. The new Air pods will be matching the Air pods Pro look with some tweaking.
Now coming to iPhone 13. This year there are some pretty upgrades from 12 and let’s talk about them in detail.
Design-wise there are no major changes this year, as with iPhone 12 series they did big changes with squared up edges going with the retro iPhone 4 look, Apple is Apple and Apple doesn’t like change. So, this year we are not expecting any major design chnages. The only visual change we can observe is in the Camera setup in iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, where the sensors are placed diagonally unlike last year.
There is one more thing that we can notice. It will be the notch that was introduced with the good old iPhone X. The new notch will occupy less area than the previous one. Face recognition will be improved too. But in my opinion, it will be so nice to ditch the Face ID and re-introduce Touch ID integrated into the power button just like they did in iPad Air.
This year there is a major upgrade for display, Apple finally moving into high refresh rate AMOLED displays. As per rumours, Apple is finally introducing a 120Hz High refresh rate display in the new iPhone. It is an LTPO panel built by Samsung and LG. An LTPO panel is one in which the refresh rate is dynamically adjusted. That means if you are watching a movie, then the refresh rate is set to 30hz as it doesn’t need more. When we are playing a game or scrolling the refresh rate is automatic goes up to 120hz. When we are on the home screen the refresh rate will be set low. This helps in better battery life and reduces battery consumption by up to 20%. And coming to the battery
There are rumours that Apple finally increasing the battery capacity of the iPhone. The iPhones generally don’t need a bigger battery as they are well optimized and quiet battery efficient. But with the introduction of 5G modems and bright OLED panels, battery consumption has increased. Now with the introduction of high refresh panels battery is going to drain more. There is only a little we can optimize and finally, Apple decided to increase the capacity of the iPhones by 10 to 15% or even more and this is good.
The increase in battery capacities means the new iPhones will be thicker and heavier than the previous ones.
Last year we have seen a new main sensor in 12 Pro Max. From rumours, we are expecting some in-camera department this year too. Apple might be introducing Astrophotography, which Google has introduced and perfected way back. Along with this a new Ultra-wide camera will be having Auto-Focus to help with well better focus and for macro. Also, this year they’re going to increase the aperture, in short, larger the aperture more light will be allowed inside and more bright pictures it can take in the dark, and of course, the Pro models will be coming with LiDAR sensor as previous models.
Apple will not back down in performance, as iPhone is long supported by Apple the chip inside should be powerful enough for all the updates and time, to give perspective iPhone 6s will be receiving an iOS 15 update, a phone that launched in 2015. That is 6 years of updates. So, the SoC is very important for long-term use. This year the Apple Silicon A15 bionic sure going to top all the benchmarks as usual and going to beat all the chips in the market. A15 is rumoured to be based on 4nm fin fit technology, making it power efficient and fast, while the A14 in iPhone 12 lineup is based on 5nm technology.
This year SoC is expected to come with an X60 modem, for better signal reception and better 5G coverage in both mm-Wave and Sub 5G bands.
This X60 modem can do satellite communication that is even without 4G or 5G coverage, users can make calls and SMS.
This year new iPhones are expected to launch in a bunch of colours, based on renders the new iPhones are coming in matte black, and a new bronze or orange colour, or even Pink.
iPhone 13 to be supporting 25W charging, whereas the previous iPhone 12 capped at 20W. Last but not least, will it be called iPhone 13 or 12S or Apple skip 13 and call it 14. Let’s see. Also, all these changes might come with a price hike too.
Finally, these are the rumors that have surrounded the upcoming iPhone 13 line-up of devices collected from various sources. This is everything we can expect. As these are rumors, we cannot be sure until Apple unveils it on their Online Event scheduled on September 14. So, hang on a couple of days more.

]]>The post Oppo to release ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 appeared first on So Called Happenings.
]]>Previously Oppo’s personal assistant revealed that ColorOS 12 is going to be launched on September 13, in a post shared by a user on Weibo. But today’s announcement made it clear that it would be delayed to later this month.
Unfortunately, there is no official timeline for when the updates will be rolled out and which devices to get it. Alongside they also share a video of the new UI, based on geometry indicating the refreshed colorful UI.
We can also expect Realme to release their next version of Realme UI, which usually is based on ColorOS. But I highly doubt they come any quicker for Indian devices. Also it takes quite a time for all devices to receive the update.
This also confirms the rumors about the Pixel 6 launch by Google with the stable Android 12, just a day before the iPhone 13 launch by Apple.

]]>The post Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime appeared first on So Called Happenings.
]]>Redmi unveiled their next iteration of Prime the Redmi 10 Prime, saying it’s the “All-round Superstar”, but is it? Let’s discuss!
Redmi priced 10 Prime at 12,500 making it 2,000 more than the previous 9 Prime. Though 9 Prime launched at 10,000, its price was hiked by 500 recently due to chip shortage. The base model and the other model with 6GB ram is priced at 14,500/-
Redmi has once again refreshed the whole mobile and upgraded it to the next nearest spec.
The processor is changed from G80 to G88, likely the display was upgraded to 90Hz Dynamic still LCD from 60Hz panel. The Main camera sensor is upgraded to a new 50MP f 1.8 from a 13MP sensor in 9 Prime. It couples with 8MP ultra-wide and 2 other useless sensors and battery to 6000mAh from 5020mAh.
Design is also changed to look more like its elder siblings Note 10 family. It now even has stereo speakers. It supports 18W fast charging and also supports 9W reverse charging. Still retains an IR blaster.
Looks like a true upgrade and a complete package for customers.
Prime line of devices are usually for people looking at the 10,000 mark and in that price, even a 500 hike is tough for some people. Maybe it is indeed because of lockdown and chip shortages but I think this mobile is made of wrong choices. They might have cut some corners and make it available let’s say under 12000 so that using card offers we can get it for a lower price. It’d be a sweet spot.
Considering the same company that launched Redmi Note 10 at 12,000 a couple of months back now increased to 13,500, that is more bang for the buck.
But coming into the perspective of the general public, this mobile Redmi 10 Prime is indeed a good one considering the price hike, it is a good choice for people who want to buy a decent mobile at 12,000 price.
But the same can’t be said to the other model priced at 14,500 because the company’s own Redmi Note 10S makes more sense. Available for 500 more at 15,000 and comes with a better processor G95 and a super AMOLED display (60Hz AMOLED panel is much better than 90Hz LCD) and a 33W fast charging. Both launched with MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11.
You can purchase the mobile here.
Again these are my thoughts, comment down yours.
Thank you!

]]>Before getting into it, take a look at some of the price hikes in recent times.
Realme 8 is one of the best-selling phones for Realme this year. Launched at 15,000 and the specifications for the price are good too making it an easy recommendation for most. After few days Realme actually cut down its price by 500 thus made it available at 14,500.
But today when if we try to buy one the price is 16,000 that is 1500 more. Not only Realme 8 but many other Realme devices prices are hiked. These include models like Realme 8 5G (1500 hiked), Realme C11, Realme C21.
On the other hand, Yesterday Redmi silently has announced that they too are increasing the prices of some of their smartphones by 500-1000.
Below is the list of new prices for hiked mobiles. Apart from the below Redmi Note 10 that was originally launched for 12,000 now increased to 14,00 for some time.
Some of the budget mobiles whose price has been increased are listed below:
Micromax In Note 1 and In 2B by 500, Poco M3 and M3 Pro up to 1000 depending upon the variant. Similarly, Oppo has increased the price on some of its models, these include Oppo F19, A53s, A15s, A15, and A11K up to 1000.
Now to our initial question of why smartphone manufacturers are increasing the prices of their mobiles lately. In recent times if there is any reason that everyone can understand is covid-19. It disrupted many things making it more difficult for several industries, Mobile manufacturers are no different.
On the official confirmations from the OEMs, they said that the supply chain has been disrupted. This is forcing them to increase the price of the mobiles to cover the higher input cost and the fluctuation in demand.
Though the price hike seems ok in some cases as the prices of raw materials and components have increased in the pandemic. Especially the rising fuel prices making it more costly for transportation. But increasing 2000rs in a budget smartphone is making it to reconsider to recommend, putting them in a different category.
Like in the case of the Redmi Note 10 when launched at 12000, it is the go-to recommendation for many. But now at 14,000, it is not much of a value for money mobile. Because there are better alternatives from the same brand at just 1000 more.
My opinion on this issue is, yes it is true the price hiked mobiles are VFM(value for money) mobiles. Companies get very little by selling them, unlike their mid-range and premium devices which usually sell at a profit, thus have a buffer for companies to adjust the factors that make the price hike. So companies are kind of forced to increase the price to compensate.
Increasing 500 seems to be reasonable, but 1500 and 2000 are not something companies should do. Also, the companies should be more transparent about it and more open to the people, why they are doing it.
It is also expected that companies are going to increase the prices of their TV line up by 3-6%, because of the same. Anyway thanks to online shopping sites we can easily get a discount on these via card offers and sales they keep.
So we should expect the prices of mobiles to go up a little bit in the future too and let’s hope the companies will be more open and transparent about the surge in charges.
